ADJUSTABLE GATE HINGE

Gates, especially large, heavy gates will sag over time...

This DIY project was the brainchild of my husband. He and our son  fabricated a heavy duty gate hinge.  It began as a simple gate hinge and morphed into something a bit cooler when they made it an ADJUSTABLE gate hinge to compensate for the inevitable gate sag.

NOTE: This isn't a true tutorial, but more a pictorial demonstration.

EACH HINGE is made of:
⇒2 links of chain...the kind a bicycle uses only much BIGGER!
⇒¾” by 12” Stainless Steel Allthread Rod
⇒1 Nut

MOUNTING hardware:
⇒4 flat washers
⇒2 nuts

These are the parts that make it adjustable once it is hung.

This post might not interest everyone but I was super excited to show some of the other Jensens' work.  It's one of the reasons for the name change of my blog to JENSEN CREATIVE WORKS.  I wanted to include my family. We needed the hinges and my husband used this opportunity to teach our son some fabrication skill.  Not every weld is great looking but they are strong and will hold well.  I am really happy that they tried something new and built adjustable hinges. Our gate may sag but we'll always have a way to adjust it!

I hope you will be inspire to look for new and creative ways to solve problems as you TRY something NEW!
