I was SO LUCKY!
This last Valentine’s Day I got to hang out with new FRIENDS & GREAT people at
Petals by Kate Flower Boutique
and PLAY with flowers!
Pauline and Kate are a MOTHER/DAUGHTER team who own the FLOWER shop in Payette, Idaho.
VALENTINE’S Day is the BIGGEST flower DAY of the year for most flower shops. And BIG days usually become family affairs. This was the case for Petals by Kate Flower Boutique. I truly ENJOYED getting to spend a couple of days with their POSITIVE and SUPPORTIVE family.
It was a couple of LONG days but I totally LOVED it.
One reason I had so much FUN is I got to DO something NEW! I got to arrange 3 DOZEN ROSES! (What a lucky lady!)
It was EXCITING to say the least!
I was AMAZED that they had the PERFECT lead crystal vase for the flowers. It had the size, weight and shape to support 3 DOZEN long stem ROSES beautifully. The FLOWERS WERE SIMPLY GORGEOUS!
Thank you Pauline & Kate for MAKING my DAY!
You might have guessed...FLORAL DESIGN
is another one of my LOVES.
My daughter's wedding bouquet.
I attribute that to my Great Aunt Luzetta. She owned her own greenhouse and floral shop when I was a child. I remember visiting and being in AWE of the indoor fish pond.
TOTALLY COOL!
In high school, during the HOLIDAYS, I made deliveries. (Yes, it was a FAMILY affair too.) When I had some free time she would always invite and encourage me to make bouquets. I was always AFRAID of messing up. (I look BACK at my younger self and WISH I hadn't let fear stop me from TRYING.)
In college I took floral design classes and learned the FUNDAMENTALS and loved working for Luzetta during the summers.
Back then it was all in the FAMILY when it came to weddings for us. The flowers and decorations were covered by my great aunt and other TALENTED family members AND my grandma and Aunt did the cakes.
It HASN'T changed...My sisters and I have now taken on these rolls and are working to PASS them ON to the next GENERATION.
No one owns a flower shop anymore but we still make FLOWERS a FAMILY AFFAIR. Our BIGGEST event is MEMORIAL DAY. It’s a TRADITION started by GRANDPARENTS, passed down by my FATHER and one I love sharing with my family!
AND it’s a TRADITION I would love to SHARE with you.
As flowers begin to POP UP and Memorial Day approaches I will share some simple TECHNIQUES and ideas you can use with YOUR FAMILY for remembering your loved ones who have passed AND also for ENJOYING flowers throughout the SUMMER.
♥DON'T FORGET...TRY something NEW!
P.S. Coming SOON...more soap color samples... indigo, charcoal, paprika, curry, turmeric, cocoa powder & spirulina.

I am so grateful that LeeAnn has graciously shared her talents with family. She did floral arrangements and decor for both of my daughter’s weddings and helped several other nieces too. She does such beautiful work!
